Summary

A Google Ads channel can be used in programs to automate adding new contacts to your audiences.

This enables you to easily maintain and grow your audience lists, and improve your re-targeting efforts - helping you to optimise your advert campaign spend by targeting your adverts to people who aren't engaged through other channels.

Once you've created a Google Ads channel profile, you'll be able to drag and drop a Google Ads node into your programs and decide which group of contacts are added to which audience.

You can create multiple profiles for a channel.

Important

Please note that a minimum of 1000 contacts are required in an audience list before your adverts are activated. Further information can be found in Google's documentation.

Confirmation of successful profile creation will be given, and the profile will be listed on your Google Ads channel page.

At this point, the 'Google Ads' node will become available in the program builder under 'Extensions' in the side panel.

Using the Google Ads node in a program

The place where you add the Google Ads node into a program is the point where contacts will get automatically added to the selected audience list.

Change the Google Ads profile you're using by clicking on the 'Profile' dropdown (if available).

  4. After choosing your audience list and realising it's not what you want, you can use Change audience list to reselect it. When happy with things, click Apply.

At this point, your Google Ads node is ready and waiting for when you activate your program.

Once your program's activated and contacts reach this node, you'll be able to see how many - and who - have passed through it and have been added to the selected audience list.

Contacts will continue to the next node as normal.

Viewing usage statistics for a Google Ads profile

The Google Ads channel page (accessed from your account settings by clicking on Channel management > Google Ads) lists all of your account's Google Ads profiles, and will show you how many contacts have been synced in the last 7 days for each profile.

A note on usage statisics

  • Usage statistics are stored for 30 days

To drill down into more detail, click on the figure under 'Contacts synced in the last 7 days'. This will additionally tell you the date of the sync, the total number of contacts who failed to sync, plus any specific warning messages received.

You can filter by contacts successfully synced, failed contacts, and warnings. And, you can adjust the date range.

To view a searchable list of synced contacts and the time at which they joined your audience list, click on the 'Contacts synced' statistic. The 'Contacts' panel will slide in from the right.
