Summary

A Facebook Audience channel extension can be used in programs to automate adding new contacts to your audiences.

This enables you to easily maintain and grow your audiences, and improve your re-targeting efforts - helping you to optimise your advert campaign spend by targeting your adverts to people who aren't engaged through other channels.

Once you've created a Facebook Audience channel profile, you'll be able to drag and drop a Facebook Audience node into your programs and decide which group of contacts are added to which audience.

You can create multiple profiles for a channel.

  6. You may see full confirmation of the email address of the Facebook account you're creating the profile for, although this will depend on the Facebook account owner's settings. If the account is set to prevent the owner's email address from being revealed, it won't get shown here. Just select the ad account you want to use from the account, ensure the profile is set to enabled, and then click Save.

You can select only ad accounts that were created from a customer file.

Confirmation of successful profile creation will be given, and the profile will be listed on your Facebook Audience channel page.

At this point, the 'Facebook Audience' node will become available in the program builder under 'Extensions' in the side panel.

Using the Facebook Audience node in a program

The place where you add the Facebook Audience node into a program is the point where contacts will get automatically added to the selected audience.

To create and configure a Facebook Audience node, follow these steps:

  1. Click on Extensions in the side panel's accordion menu

At this point, your Facebook Audience node is ready and waiting for when you activate your program.

Once your program's activated and contacts reach this node, you'll be able to see how many - and who - have passed through it and have been added to the selected audience.

Contacts will continue to the next node as normal.

Viewing usage statistics for a Facebook Audience profile

The Facebook Audience channel page (accessed from your account settings by clicking on Channel management > Facebook Audience) lists all of your account's Facebook Audience profiles, and will show you how many contacts have been synced in the last 7 days for each profile.

A note on usage statisics

  • Usage statistics are only stored for 30 days
  • The number of contacts synced could be greater than the actual number of contacts added to your Facebook audience. This is because Facebook compares a list of contacts with users they know about. Only those that Facebook can match end up in your audience.

To drill down into more detail, click on the figure under 'Contacts synced in the last 7 days'. This will additionally tell you the date of the sync, the total number of contacts who failed to sync, plus any specific warning messages received.

You can filter by contacts successfully synced, failed contacts, and warnings.

You can also adjust the date range.

To view a searchable list of synced contacts and the time at which they joined your audience, click on the 'Contacts synced' statistic. The 'Contacts' panel will slide in from the right.

Deleting or disabling a Facebook Audience profile

Please note (before deleting or disabling a profile)

  • You can't delete or disable a profile that's in use in an active program
  • Deleting a profile deletes all usage statistics for that profile
  • Disabling a profile stops users from selecting the profile in a Facebook Audience node until you enable the profile again

To delete a Facebook Audience profile:

  1. From your account settings, go to Channel management > Facebook Audience
  2. Select the checkbox next to the name of the profile you want to delete
  3. Click Delete

To disable a Facebook Audience profile:

  1. From your account settings, go to Channel management > Facebook Audience
  2. Click the name of the profile you want to disable
  3. Select Disabled next to the 'Status' field
  4. Click Save
