What are product recommendations?
If you are an ecommerce retailer, dotmailer’s product recommendations feature allows you to insert dynamic product content into your campaigns.
To use the feature, you first need to ensure that your ecommerce store is connected to dotmailer. This can be done using our API or our market-leading ecommerce integrations.
What types of product recommendations are available?
Depending on the data you have synced to dotmailer, you will have access to the following recommendation types:
- Best sellers
- Most viewed
- Last browsed (soon)
- Bought together (soon)
- Also bought (soon)
- Machine learning (closed beta)
You should review the data dependencies for recommendation types. Unless you have synced the correct data, and in the correct format, the recommendations will either not work or not be available.
To enhance the quality of product recommendations, dotmailer uses artificial intelligence to power product data enrichment.
How do product recommendations work?
A recommendation is a definition for the products you wish to recommend. It is made of two parts:
- Type: how products should be recommended (e.g. best sellers, most viewed, etc);
- Filters (optional): how you wish to filter the recommended products (e.g. female running shoes less than $100).
How do I use product recommendations?
Recommendations are created under the campaigns menu. You can choose a type, and, depending on the type, add additional filters in the recommendation builder. Once you have created a product recommendation, it will be available as a block inside dotmailer’s EasyEditor.
Product recommendation blocks can be dragged into your campaigns like other types of block. Once you have added a recommendation, you can change its basic layout and preview it.
