Summary

The dotmailer for Magento connector enables you to send an SMS to your customers automatically as their order changes status within Magento. However, you will need to speak with your dotmailer account manager about enabling SMS on your dotmailer account before this feature can work.

Steps to enable SMS order status notifications

To do this, follow these steps:

1. Go to System > ConfigurationDOTMAILER > Automation SMS.

2. Enable 'SMS 1' and choose the appropriate order status to trigger the sending of the SMS to the customer.

3. Type in the message you would like to send to the customer. You can include two variables in this message - the customer's order number and/or their name. Click on the links Insert Order Number and Insert Customer Name underneath the message box to insert these variables within the appropriate places in your message.

4. Click Save Config in the top right. Magento will then confirm that the settings have been saved.

Repeat these steps for any further order status types for which you wish to send SMS notifications, up to a maximum of four different order statuses.

FAQs

What mobile number do you use?

We use the mobile number from an order that is saved against the delivery address.

Do you send international SMS messages?

Currently we only support UK mobile numbers. However, you can use program extensions within our program builder to send international messages. Please speak with your account manager about this.

Magento 2.0

This feature isn't part of Magento 2.0 as it has been removed in preference of our order status automation enrolment feature instead.
