dotmailer for Salesforce installation - Configuration wizard

Summary

Configuration is required to establish links between Salesforce and dotmailer.

When a link is made to an existing dotmailer account, using the provided QuickLink code is fast and secure.

The configuration wizard will guide you through the steps to configure the system for an initial user.

Firstly, click on the Configuration tab.

The wizard will appear. You're ready to initiate the first step by clicking on Read and agree to the Terms and Conditions.

Step 1 - Agree to the terms and conditions

You're required to agree to the terms and conditions to proceed any further.

To view the full terms and conditions, enter a valid QuickLink code and click on Read Terms and Conditions.

If you don't agree to the terms and conditions then the package won't get configured and 'Marketing Automation' (or 'Email Marketing' or 'dotmailer') won't be available from the menu.

Once happy, tick 'I Agree to the Terms and Conditions' and click Agree & Continue.

After doing so, the first part of the wizard will be shown as complete.

Step 2 - Link to an email marketing account

Next, you'll need to create a link to an email marketing (dotmailer) account.

To do this, you'll need to use the QuickLink code that you've been provided with. It can be found via your 'Get started' installation link, provided under 'QuickLink Code'.

Enter the QuickLink code and click Next.

The screen will show the email address of the account that the QuickLink code was created for.

It will also show the account's name which will be used for display purposes when a Salesforce user has been linked to a dotmailer account. This name is copied from the company name given in dotmailer but can be edited if required.

If the account is correct, select Link to complete the account linking process. The modal will close and you'll be returned to the configuration screen, with the second part of the wizard shown as complete.

Step 3 - Enable access to Salesforce data

This step enables access to your Salesforce data.

The organisation ID and name will be automatically filled in from your Salesforce user data (the name is based on your Salesforce organisation name).

Click Allow this application.

You'll then be asked to confirm that you agree to the access of your Salesforce data by clicking OK.

The following screen is then displayed, which asks whether you want to enable access for the named dotmailer account.

Click Allow.

Once setup for single sign-on access has completed, the following message is displayed.

You can click on View Details to check the Salesforce user details.

You can close these dialogs and then go back to the 'Global settings' dialog to click the Test Authentication button. This checks that you have the correct access permissions set and that you can log in.

If they haven't been set or are invalid, then you'll be informed of this.

Click Close on all open dialog windows to complete the Salesforce data access process.

Step 4 - Link users

In the final part of the wizard, any dotmailer user accounts can be linked to Salesforce users. A minimum of one dotmailer user must be linked.

For each dotmailer user that's displayed, it's possible to link it to an appropriate Salesforce user by selecting them from the 'Salesforce User' dropdown list. Or you can start typing any part of the user in the 'Filter' area, and the list will reduce in size.

If 'SSO' is ticked, it indicates the dotmailer user can use single sign-on from within Salesforce for logging into dotmailer.

Linked users can be deactivated by unticking 'Active'. Permissions can also be controlled if required.

Once you've finished making links and changes, click Save. A message will let you know that they have been successfully saved.

Close the dialog to complete the link users process.

Setup complete

When all four steps have been completed, the following will display.

Click Finish.

The 'Setup Complete' screen is displayed, confirming the Salesforce organisation that has been set up.

Log out of Salesforce.

Linked users will now be able to use Marketing Automation, and those with single sign-on capability can make use of the 'Email Studio' tab by entering a one-time-only password.
