Please noteThis article assumes you've read Using program extensions. It also assumes you have an active account with Twilio. If you don't have one, you'll need to sign up for one before you can create a profile for this extension.

|Configuring your Twilio extension|
A Twilio extension can be used in programs to send SMS messages to contacts' mobile phones when they reach the node.
You'll need to ask our account team to enable this provider for you within your account. They'll notify you when this has been done.
You'll then need to create a profile for it, at which point you'll be ready to utilise the Twilio extension within the program builder.
It will appear under 'Extensions' in the side panel to the left of the program canvas.
You can create a Twilio profile in the 'Extension profiles' tab in the 'Access' area, which is accessed by selecting Access from the settings menu.
Click on Add to produce the provider type dropdown, select Twilio from the list and then click OK.
Add details/authentication for the new Twilio profile.
You can also tick a box to limit the rate that requests are made by the profile. This is because some providers won't allow too many requests to be sent at once by the same profile (but remember - you can create more than one profile per provider type).
When done, click Next.
You'll then be required to map to the 'Mobile' contact data field and enter your Twilio account configuration details.
Once you've dragged and dropped your Twilio extension into your program, you'll need to configure it.
Click on the node and the configuration panel will slide in from the right.
Select the profile you wish to use for this action from the 'Profile' dropdown (or you can click the + icon to add another profile).
The action 'Send SMS' is already confirmed for you.
The 'AccountSID', 'From' and 'Mobile' fields will be confirmed for you, based upon the particular Twilio profile that you're using.
Remember: it's always your responsibility to ensure you're supplying good, executable data, or your extension call could fail.
The character limit/amount of characters remaining for your message is displayed to the bottom right under the 'Message' entry field. Enter the message you want to send. If it exceeds the character limit it then it will run into a second message.
You can also add personalisation by clicking on the personalisation icon on the far right.
Be aware when using personalisationThe value held against your contact for any contact data fields used for personalisation will be added to your message upon sending. If adding personalisation causes a message to exceed 160 characters, then the message will need to run into a second message.
Once a program is activated and a contact reaches this node in your program, the message entered will be sent to the contact's mobile number, with any personalisation included.
Once happy with your configuration, you should firstly test the extension to ensure it works as expected. Click on Find contact, choose a contact from your 'Test' address book and then click Submit to make a test request. The full response will be provided underneath, allowing you to see whether the extension is working or not.
After testing successfully, click Apply.
