The dotSurvey account changes on 10 December 2013 - an FAQ

On Tuesday 10 December 2013, all dotSurvey accounts will become dotMailer accounts. This articles answers some common questions behind the changes.

Q: Does this affect me?

A: These changes affect anyone with a full or trial dotSurvey account.

Q: Why are accounts changing?

A: Rather than offering two products, we're rolling all the functionality of dotSurvey into out parent product, dotMailer. The survey functionality will be a purchasable extra, but accounts will benefit from hugely increased functionality (see 'Do I get more functionality?', below)

Q: Do I have to do anything?

A: Your account will change automatically on 10 December. From that date, you'll need to login from the dotMailer website. Once logged in, you'll be able to select the 'Surveys' option on the top navigation bar.

Q: What is dotMailer?

A: dotMailer is an email marketing tool that runs in your browser just like dotSurvey. It makes it easy to create, send and track email campaigns, because - just like dotSurvey - we have the world's best drag and drop email editor. Email campaigns can also integrate with surveys, and vice versa.

Check out the dotMailer website for more information.

Q: Do I get more functionality?

A: The survey tool will be the same as now (although we'll continue to develop new features, just as we've always done). However, you'll have the option of using the dotMailer email marketing functionality, too. You can see more about the features in dotMailer at http://www.dotmailer.co.uk/features.

Q: Will my monthly bill change?

A: No. Your charge for the survey tool will remain the same. However, you'll have to buy credits should you wish to start using the other dotMailer functionality. Credits are required for email sends, inbox previews and custom from addresses, and can be purchased in-app. When your account is changed, we'll make sure it's pre-loaded with 500 free credits - allowng you to create and send 500 emails, for no charge.*

Alternatively, you'll be able to pay for dotMailer based on the number of contacts (email addresses) you store in it. Again, this option can be chosen in-app.

Q: Are my existing surveys safe?

A: Absolutely. Your existing surveys will still be there when you log in from 10 December, and any live surveys will continue to be live.

Q: What will the new survey links look like?

A: Following the change, any surveys you create will exist on the domain dotmailer-surveys.com, rather than dotsurvey.me. Any existing surveys will continue to work on dotsurvey.me - and you won't have to re-share or re-embed them.

Q: Will the survey tool look different?

A: Yes. Come 10 December, the survey tool will adopt dotMailer's (mostly green) colour scheme. The functionality, however, will work the same as it does now.

Q: Where should I go for help and support?

A: The dotMailer knowledge base includes help documentation on all the survey's features at https://support.dotmailer.com/forums/22638546. If you can't find what you're looking for there, you can also email our support team at support@dotmailer.com (they're open 8:00am - 2:00am UK time, Monday to Friday).

Q: I'm on a trial. What will happen to me?

A: Your trial will continue. You'll also be given 500 free send credits to try out the dotMailer functionality*.

Q: How can I cancel my account?

A: You can email us at support@dotmailer.com, stating that you wish to close your dotMailer account and providing the email address you signed up with.

Q: What about...?

A: If you have additional questions, feel free to pose them below.

* Credits expire 180 days after they are added to your account.
